The show "The Fuchsiad", a production of the German State Theatre in Timişoara (GSTT), won two awards at the Romanian Comedy Festival - festCO: the award for best scenography and the award for best theatrical event.
Awards were given Sunday, 29th of May, 2016, at the Romanian Comedy Gala. The sole curator of this edition was theatre critic Doina Papp,
the jury consisting of theatre critic Octavian Saiu, actor Adrian
Titieni, scenographer Iuliana Vîlsan, actress Carmen Tănase and director
Bobi Pricop.
“The Fuchsiad”, “the
heroic-erotic and musical poem” of Urmuz, in the German version of Oskar
Pastior, is a theatrical installation imagined by Helmut Stürmer, assisted by Silviu Purcărete. The soundtrack is signed by Vasile Șirli, set design is by Helmut Stürmer, and costumes by Corina Grămoșteanu. The video projections are the creation of scenographer Andu Dumitrescu, and the masks are made by Ilona Varga-Járó. Choreography is by Florin Fieroiu.
In the numerous cast almost all actors of the German Theatre can be
found, as well as guest actors, among which four actresses from the
Hungarian State Theatre “Csiky Gergely” from Timisoara.
On the occasion of being presented this award, scenographer Helmut Stürmer said: “Staging
the Urmuz project has been a dream of mine for many years and without
the trust of Mr. Lucian Vărșăndan, this venture wouldn’t have stood a
chance”.
