The German State Theater Timișoara (TGST) will start the 2024/2025 season with a participation at the "Cătălina Buzoianu" Stage Direction Festival - Woman power in theater!, which takes place in Iasi. GSTT will play on September 10, 2024, starting at 22.30, TSCHICK. Why We Took the Car - a stage adaptation by Robert Koall after the novel by Wolfgang Herrndorf - directed by Irisz Kovacs. The set and costumes are by Clara Stefana, the dramaturgy is by Rudolf Herbet and the music is composed by Adrian Piciorea.

At its first edition, the "Cătălina Buzoianu" Stage Direction Festival - Woman power in theater!, will take place from September 7-11, 2024 at the National Theatre "Vasile Alecsandri" in Iasi. The program will include the most important performances signed by female directors from the last two seasons: 2022/2023 and 2023/2024. The event bears the name of Cătălinei Buzoianu (b. April 13, 1938 - d. August 3, 2019), an emblematic personality of Romanian theater directing, who marked the destiny of the National Theatre in Iasi for a beautiful period of time.

The festival's program will include productions from state and independent theatres, taking place over five days, as well as related events: debates, book launches, workshops.

The selection of the festival is made by the theaterologist Oana Borș, lecturer at the National University of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art I.L.Caragiale Bucharest, based on well-argued criteria such as: aesthetic risk, avant-garde spirit, openness to other arts, profound perspectives on the realities of a world that is changing before our eyes.

In TSCHICK. Why We Took the Car, the audience is invited to travel with Maik and Tschick, two boys from Berlin, disillusioned by their families, who decide to run away from home with a stolen car. On their adventures they meet people of all kinds, some like themselves, some completely different, from whom they learn that however complicated life gets, the things that really matter are friendship, loyalty and love. The cast includes Robert Bogdanov-Schein, Marc Illich, Alma Diaconu, Ioana Iacob, Alexandru Mihăescu.

For TSCHICK. Why We Took the Car, Irisz Kovacs was nominated at the Uniter Awards Gala 2024 in the category Best Director ("Lucian Pintilie" Award) and won the "Iulian Vișa" Award at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival 2024 (FITS).
