Tuesday, the 29th of November 2016,
at 17 o’clock.
In the Great Hall of the National Theatre
Cluj-Napoca.
The fifth edition of the International
Theater Festival “Interferențe” is
organized by the Hungarian State Theater in Cluj, between the 24th of November
and the 4th of December 2016, this edition’s theme being “Foreigner’s Odyssey”.
Gábor Tompa, director and selector for the festival, declares that “the notion
of foreigner is important because the migration phenomenon took unexpected
amplitude in the last half of the century.” This edition will be hosting 20
companies from 14 countries, the audience having the possibility to view shows by
important companies from round the world, as well as experimental productions.
The performance “The Fuchsiad” is at
its third festival attendance, having participated in the Romanian Comedy
Festival – festCO and the National Theatre Festival. “The Fuchsiad”, “the
heroic-erotic musical poem” of Urmuz is a theatrical installation imagined by
Helmut Stürmer and assisted by Silviu Purcărete. The soundtrack for the show is
composed by Vasile Șirli, set design is by Helmut Stürmer, and costumes by
Corina Grămoșteanu.
About this show, Helmut Stürmer
declared: “Teodor Fuchs, our main character, truly existed. He was a commenting
piano player for mute films and was probably imagining himself as a famous
composer. Urmuz met him and it seems he recognized himself. Urmuz’s Fuschsiad
is no more and no less to me than the artist’s condition. Our Fuchs, once a
child prodigy and then a genius artist fails tragically, funny, sublime,
poetic, he falls to the stars. «The Fuchsiad», reading between the lines and images, becomes a
eulogy to failure.”
